THE HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP) & COOLING

The purpose of LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) is to help eligible low-income households meet their home heating bill. Cooling Assistance helps households with a documented medical need receive a $160.00 check to pay the electric bill for the usage of the air conditioning during the summer.

To apply for the program households/individual need to provide copies of monthly income, Social Security Cards (ITIN Number), heating and electric bills (if applicable) and proof of rent or ownership. The proof of medical necessity is ONLY required if applying for Cooling Assistance.

Eligibility for the LIHEAP program along with the grant amount varies based on family size and household monthly income *(You can apply every year from November 1st thru March 30th)
